A Waffle House in Cobb County turned chaotic when a group of teens allegedly attacked its workers, as reported by local authorities. The incident, which took place early Sunday morning shortly before 2 a.m., involved a worker being placed in a headlock and punched repeatedly. Cobb County Police Department responded to the scene at the 2700 block of Sandy Plains Road after receiving 911 calls regarding the brawl. In a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, Officer Landeros detailed the violent altercation.
Witnesses tried to break up the fight, and the employee, identified only as Daniel, was reportedly targeted after asking the group to leave multiple times. The situation quickly escalated, leading to a physical confrontation. According to the police report, the assailants also knocked plates off the counter and used racial slurs during the assault. Daniel has expressed his intention to press charges if the attackers are identified. Witnesses described the assailants as "small, white country boys" and noted that they seemed intoxicated, with cans of Twisted Tea found outside the restaurant. The police traced vehicles believed to belong to the attackers to addresses in Canton.
Diner Ellie Polk recounted her experience to FOX 5 Atlanta saying, "Jumped over the counter and had him in a choke hold and started punching him. and his friend also jumped in, He was bleeding from his lip a lot, i feel really bad for him." According to Polk, the two also began to kick and throw dishes, sending plates and hashbrowns flying. Polk and her friend were forced to seek refuge in the bathroom amidst the chaos.
Further confusion was caused by a social media video linking the incident to Sprayberry High School's recent homecoming game. However, the Cobb County Police have found no evidence to suggest any connection, as the game occurred on a different night. According to 11Alive, the department clarified that there's no indication the teens were current or former students of the school. A spokesperson for the Cobb County school district reinforced the separation between the school's events and the off-campus incident. As of now, there have been no arrests, but detectives are actively working to properly identify all individuals involved. Anyone with information has been encouraged to reach out to the Cobb County Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit.
