Three juveniles face multiple charges after a shooting incident in Dover Park, according to local authorities. In a social media statement obtained by SFist from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, they reported that on Saturday, their Aviation Section quickly responded to a call about gunfire originating from a wooded area at 1300 Sydney Dover Road. The office's Aviation Unit, with deft coordination, led ground deputies directly to the suspects, who were allegedly attempting to conceal items in the park.
The three individuals, identified by deputies as Joshua Sosa Diaz and Arturo Jacinto, both 14, along with 17-year-old Alexis Hernandez, were apprehended and are now facing a string of charges. The charges include aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting at within or into a vehicle, discharging a firearm in public or on residential property, armed trespass, loitering or prowling, tampering with physical evidence, and resisting an officer without violence. These developments followed after deputies uncovered three firearms and shell casings at the location of the incident.
In a video posted on the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the Aviation Unit's response and the subsequent arrest of the suspects were highlighted. The video, showcasing how technology aids in law enforcement, illustrates the sequence of events that led to the swift detention of Sosa Diaz, Jacinto, and Hernandez.
While information about the motivation behind the shooting remains under scrutiny, the Sheriff's Office assures the public that all suspects are currently in custody.
