Three juveniles have been apprehended in connection with a robbery that took place this past June near the Brookland Metro Station. According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department, a trio of 14-year-old males was involved in a theft that occurred on the evening of June 17, where a victim's headphones were snatched as he was leaving the transit hub located on the 900 block of Bunker Hill Road, Northeast. MPD reports that the suspects were engaged in a brief chase by the victim, during which the stolen item was handed off to a second suspect.
The situation escalated when an acquaintance of the victim spotted the thieves with the stolen headphones and confronted them. The confrontation led to a scuffle, resulting in additional damage to a second victim's property before the suspects made their escape. The headphones, however, were retrieved at the scene. Nearly three months after the incident, on September 15, the youths were taken into custody under a D.C. Superior Court pre-petition custody order and have been charged with Robbery (Force and Violence), indicating the gravity of the circumstances.
