Tragedy struck Carrick High School early this morning as a stabbing incident left three students injured. According to WPXI, Ebony Pugh, a spokesperson for Pittsburgh Public Schools, detailed that one student, wielding a small knife, was responsible for the injuries. Pugh also noted that the student responsible for the stabbing was in custody. Amidst this chaos, the school on the 100 block of Parkfield Street was placed in a "secure" status as a safety precaution.
The conditions of the victims were immediately unclear, but one student's injury "may be more serious," Pugh conveyed. Offered in a statement to WPXI, the response of emergency services and school police aimed to ensure "the safety and well-being of everyone in the building." Such swift actions by school staff and first responders garnered gratitude despite the unfortunate circumstances enveloping them.
Audacy reported the lockdown at Carrick High School, adding that Pittsburgh Public Safety confirmed the law enforcement agencies' presence on the scene, which included Police, Fire, and EMS units. It was also reported that two students had initially been stabbed, and a suspect might have been taken into custody.
