On Tuesday evening in Sonoma, three individuals connected to a gang were placed under arrest following a violent confrontation at a local Chevron gas station on West Napa Street. Confirming various emergency calls made right past 8:30 pm, the Sonoma Police Department detailed a stabbing incident that had taken place during an alleged robbery.
The response from Sonoma Police and Sonoma County Sheriff's Office was immediate, and upon arrival, they discovered a 22-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the leg. Deputies promptly applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding, while the Sonoma Valley Fire Department EMS provided further medical support. The victim, who endured three non-life-threatening stab wounds, was rushed to a trauma center for treatment.
In swift succession, law enforcement pinpointed the alleged attackers and subsequently located them hiding in a nearby abode. Shortly before the clock struck midnight, patrol deputies approached the suspects' hideout and detained them without incident. Following the detention, detectives from the Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Investigations Unit, alongside the Crime Scene Investigations unit, joined the fray, meticulously executing a search warrant and gathering evidence at the scene.
Upon further investigation, a revelation came to light - the stabbing was not a consequence of a robbery gone awry nor a spontaneous bout of violence. Instead, it stemmed from intentional acts connected to gang activity. The three suspects were slapped with charges including conspiracy, burglary, and attempted murder. The culprits included a 17-year-old male taken to the Sonoma County Juvenile Detention Facility, while Ernan Valencia Madrigal, a 35-year-old resident of Sonoma, and Felix Reyes Valencia, a 22-year-old, found themselves behind bars at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.
