The North Carolina Department of Transportation reported the incident at approximately 9:52 a.m. and anticipated that the ramp would not be open for use again until roughly 1:30 p.m. WCNC provided details on the shutdown, advising drivers to exercise caution and consider alternative routes due to the expected mild traffic implications.
Earlier coverage captured by WBTV, showed traffic camera footage of the tractor-trailer lying on its side, obstructing the onramp. Contrary to the initial report the closure was brief, the onramp was actually reopened by 11:15 a.m. As of the last updates, information regarding potential injuries from the crash has not been disclosed.
In the aftermath of the accident, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene to manage the flow of vehicles and to aid in the detour process. Commuters were encouraged to comply with the posted detours and to allocate additional time for their travel today.
