Burke County deputies are asking the public for help finding a Morganton man wanted on four separate criminal charges. Brent Nicolas Webb, born May 18, 1990, is named on the sheriff's office's most wanted list, with outstanding warrants that authorities say have not led to his capture.
According to the Burke County Sheriff's Office on Facebook, Webb — who is also listed under the name Brent Nicholas Webb — is charged with breaking and/or entering, larceny after breaking and entering, obtaining property by false pretense, and second-degree trespass. The post lists his last known address as 2399 Watts St. in Morganton.
The sheriff's office's Most Wanted page states plainly that the individuals featured there, including Webb, currently have outstanding warrants in Burke County and have not been located by law enforcement officers.
What the Charges Could Mean Under State Law
Two of the charges against Webb point to specific sections of North Carolina's criminal code. Second-degree trespass is addressed in state statute, which requires unauthorized entry or remaining on specified premises under one of the conditions listed in the law, according to the North Carolina General Assembly.
Obtaining property by false pretense is covered under a separate statute, which the General Assembly's text describes as obtaining or attempting to obtain money, goods, or property from another person within the state through false pretense. The statute sets out the legal threshold for the offense.
No Word Yet on Webb's Whereabouts
Beyond the charges and his last known Morganton address, little else about Webb's case has been made public. There is no booking record, mugshot, bond amount, or attorney information included in the sheriff's office's posting, and it remains unclear how long the warrants have been active or what specific incidents led to the charges.
The Burke County Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information about Webb's whereabouts to come forward. Residents can reach the office at 828-438-5500 or by emailing [email protected].
