A train came to an unexpected halt this morning, immobilizing traffic south of Downtown Las Vegas as it obstructed a critical thoroughfare. The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada reported that the train stopped on the tracks around Wyoming Avenue and Industrial Road shortly before 9:20 a.m., resulting in the closure of Western Avenue, as per an 8 News Now article.
The incident has caused the shutdown of Wyoming Avenue between Industrial Road and Western Avenue, this road running east-west between Charleston Boulevard and Sahara Avenue and becoming Oakey Boulevard near Interstate 15. The RTC has stated that while the street is closed, motorists should anticipate delays, and alternative routes such as Sahara or Charleston should be considered during this time. This information comes from a report by News 3 Las Vegas.
There has been no official word on what exactly caused the train to come to a stop, leaving commuters and local residents in a tough spot as they navigate around the impacted area. As of now, authorities have not given an estimate for when the track will be cleared and the road reopened, but they are working to resolve the issue quickly to restore normal traffic.
