The City of Concord has presented the Jo Atwater Continuous Core Values Award to Troy Savage for his work in the Solid Waste Services Department and his impact on the community. The announcement was made at the City Council Meeting on Thursday, according to a City of Concord news release.

City Manager Lloyd Payne said Savage’s approach to teamwork and trust-building reflects the city’s core values. As Administration Manager, Savage leads a team focused on customer service and compliance education, helping residents recycle correctly and reduce waste.

Savage began working with the City of Concord in 2017. He holds a certification as a Municipal Solid Waste Collections Manager and has completed the Emerging Leader’s Academy. His involvement also extends to mentoring and to work with children in the foster system through Cabarrus County courts.

The Jo Atwater Award, established in 2003, is given annually to a city employee who demonstrates the core values of Accountability, Communication, and Teamwork.
