Tulsa drivers, brace yourselves for a series of traffic hurdles if your routes include SH-51, the US-75, or the Inner Dispersal Loop. According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, these areas are seeing significant lane closures and detours as the city undergoes a swath of infrastructure projects, expected to improve lighting, rehabilitate bridges, and enhance overall roadway performance.
Daily commuters should note that the left lane of westbound SH-51/Broken Arrow Expwy is closed between Memorial Dr. and Mingo Rd. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is part of a lighting improvement project slated to run through the end of September. Additionally, the northbound US-75 will narrow to one lane at I-244 as a part of an ongoing project, with the westbound I-244 off-ramp to 1st St. undergoing similar restrictions daily through mid-September, as reported by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
A far-reaching project at the interchange of I-44 and US-75 will continue through summer 2028, bringing with it multiple ramp closures that include detours via eastbound I-244 to northbound US-75 and westbound I-244 for I-44 access. Furthermore, the southbound US-75 on-ramp from 41st St. is closed, Skelly Dr. is shut down between Union Ave and Olympia Ave., and 51st St. is blocked between Jackson Ave. and Olympia Ave, as detailed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
Motorists traveling on US-75 are also facing delays, with lanes narrowed to one in each direction between 56th St. N. and 66th St. N. expected to last through summer 2026 for bridge rehabilitation efforts. Travel on I-44 and SH-66 through Catoosa will also be hampered by narrowed lanes due to an interchange improvement project ongoing until 2026, so patience will be key for those passing through, as stated by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
In Glenpool, US-75 is another hotspot for construction with narrowed and shifted lanes at 141st St., continuing through October 2025. Bridge construction necessitates vigilance due to the southbound US-75 off-ramp to 141st St. being closed through mid-September. Lastly, SH-97 pavement rehabilitation is looming in Sand Springs with the eastbound US-412 on-ramp from SH-97/Wilson Ave. closed through September, while SH-66 at Bird Creek near Catoosa narrows to one lane in each direction through early 2026, as per the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
