As Tulsa's roadways continue to undergo various construction and improvement projects, traffic disruptions have become a regular occurrence for drivers in the area. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has announced lane closures and detours affecting several key routes. Commuters should prepare for delays and exercise caution when navigating these zones.
Starting with the SH-51/Broken Arrow Expwy, the left lane of westbound traffic between Memorial Dr. and Mingo Rd. is closed daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through September due to a lighting improvement project. Similarly, lane closures on US-75 at I-244 are expected daily through mid-October as part of an ongoing project, as reported by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Meanwhile, I-244 has been narrowed to one lane near US-75 on the northeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop through October 2025 for bridge rehabilitation.
Major construction continues at the interchange of I-44 and US-75, with a completion target set for the summer of 2028. Detours include closed ramps and narrowed lanes, notably the east and westbound I-44 ramps to northbound US-75, which are redirecting drivers to take alternative routes via eastbound I-244. Additionally, the southbound US-75 on-ramp from 41st St. remains closed, impacting local traffic flow, according to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
Travelers along US-75 between 56th St. N. and 66th St. N. will face lane reductions to one in each direction through summer 2026, all part of a bridge rehabilitation project. Closures and shifts are also in effect at the I-44, SH-66 interchange in Catoosa with an end goal set for 2026. The US-75 bridge at 141st St. in Glenpool is another construction point, with lane narrows and ramp closures, including the southbound US-75 off-ramp to 141st St. which is expected to remain closed through mid-September, as detailed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
Lastly, SH-97 is undergoing pavement rehabilitation in Sand Springs through November 2025, with limited lane availability during peak hours. The eastbound US-412 on-ramp from SH-97/Wilson Ave. is closed through September. SH-66 is also narrowed to one lane at Bird Creek near Catoosa into early 2026 due to a bridge replacement project. Motorists are encouraged to stay informed on these updates and plan their routes accordingly to avoid potential delays, as per the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
