
A fatal hit-and-run incident on Detroit's east side has led to the arrest of two individuals, Detroit Police Department report. The collision, which claimed the life of a woman motorist, occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Schoenherr Rd. and 8 Mile Rd., near the border between Detroit and Warren. According to WWJ Newsradio 950, authorities stated that the suspects were traveling in a Jeep Grand Cherokee when they collided with the woman's Lexus, causing her fatal injuries.
Following the crash, the suspects reportedly fled the scene but were later apprehended by law enforcement. They were subsequently taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for their injuries, Audacy's WWJ Newsradio 950 adds. As a result of the investigation, that is still in progress, the area around eastbound 8 Mile was closed, with no indication of when it would reopen, FOX 2 Detroit reported.
The identity of the woman who perished in the crash has not been disclosed. The Metro Detroit News detailed that the female driver of the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the two male suspects involved in the accident are now facing the prospect of charges as the Detroit Police Department's investigation continues into the cause of the accident.
