
Two people died in a house fire in Jackson County on Wednesday morning, Michigan State Police said. The fire was reported around 10:20 a.m. on Maple Lane Road in Tompkins Township. When first responders arrived, the home was already fully engulfed, according to CBS News Detroit.
A 46-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were found dead inside a home. Police believe they were the homeowners, as reported by WILX. Autopsies are planned to determine the cause of death. The Michigan State Police Special Investigation Section is leading the case. The victims’ names have not been released.
Several fire departments and support agencies, including Jackson County Disaster Assistance Response Team, Jackson Community Ambulance, Animal Control, and Consumers Energy, responded to a house fire in Jackson County.
