In a high-speed incident that could have leaped from a scene in a crime thriller, a coordinated law enforcement effort led to the arrest of two Milwaukee men following an armed carjacking pursuit that spanned multiple jurisdictions. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported the event in a social media post, detailing the actions taken by deputies in the pursuit that terminated safely on Interstate 41.
The chase began yesterday at about 1:53 p.m., when a grey Chrysler 300 sedan connected to an armed carjacking was spotted heading northbound on I-41. Despite the Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies being forced to end their pursuit north of County Line Road Q due to communication issues, Washington County deputies continued the chase. The suspects’ vehicle, traveling at speeds topping 120 mph, was eventually stopped using tire deflation devices, successfully deployed by the Washington County deputies south of Highway 33, as per the Washington County Sheriff's Office's Facebook post.
The apprehended Milwaukee men, aged 30 and 21, both with considerable criminal records, were taken into custody without incident. They are expected to face multiple charges in Washington County. The 30-year-old driver will be charged with Felony Fleeing/Eluding an Officer, Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and Operating Without a Valid License—which marked his second offense within three years.
"This incident highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies," said Sheriff Martin R. Schulteis, praising the teamwork that brought the situation to a safe conclusion. "By working together, we were able to safely bring this dangerous situation to a conclusion and ensure the suspects were held accountable." Regardless of jurisdictional boundaries, the sheriff remarked that their priority remains protecting the public and supporting their law enforcement partners, as stated on the Washington County Sheriff's Office's social media page.
The Milwaukee Police Department has taken over the investigation of the armed carjacking, to which both the vehicle and suspects were transferred after the chase. The case remains an active investigation as the full circumstances surrounding the carjacking and ensuing pursuit continue to be examined.
