Two people in Jackson County, Oregon, have been arrested for allegedly trading child sexual abuse material online. The arrests were made through a coordinated operation by the Oregon Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team, with help from local and federal law enforcement agencies, according to the Oregon Department of Justice.

A recent Oregon investigation into child exploitation uncovered over a thousand images and videos showing sexual abuse and assault of children, including conversations about the abuse of very young victims. Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield said, “The crimes being investigated here are among the most disturbing imaginable. Every image represents the exploitation of a child, and every child deserves to be safe from this kind of harm,” and noted the efforts of law enforcement in addressing these crimes, as reported by the Oregon Department of Justice.

Eddie Lukon Stith and Matthew Mario Maya were arrested in Jackson County, Oregon, on multiple charges including sexual exploitation and encouraging child sex abuse. Stith was arrested in White City and had an outstanding warrant from Spokane, Washington. Maya was arrested in Medford and faces 10 new charges in addition to previous ones. Authorities are examining devices seized during the raids and interviewing witnesses as part of the investigation, as stated by the Oregon Department of Justice.
