The shooting, occurring near the intersection of 22nd Street and Mead Street around 3 a.m., prompted quick action from Mount Pleasant Police Department officers who were patrolling the area on foot and heard multiple gunshots. As reported by WISN, the officers located the victims and rendered medical assistance, with one officer applying recent Tactical Medical Instructor Training to aid the injured.
The injured parties included a 22-year-old male who was taken to Ascension Healthcare for non-life-threatening injuries, and a 19-year-old female who, after being airlifted to Froedtert Medical Center, underwent surgery and is now in stable condition, according to a TMJ4 report. Responding to the incident were multiple law enforcement agencies, including the South Shore Fire Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Racine Police Department, Racine County Sheriff's Office, Caledonia Police Department, and Sturtevant Police Department.
