Federal government updates system for logging complaints about commercial transportation, affecting truckers, consumers, and safety watchdogs. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced that the first phase of the National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB) modernization project is rolling out, with the promise of a more user-friendly experience on the horizon, according to the FMCSA release.

The NCCDB, a key online hub for reporting safety violations, fraud, and other issues under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, is undergoing a major update. The refresh aims to improve user experience, streamline complaint handling and response times, and, for the first time, allow reports against property brokers.

"This overdue tech upgrade is a win for drivers, carriers, and the driving public," Duffy said in a straightforward manner. “The modernized database will make it easier to file complaints, access digital tools, and empower individuals to speak up about unsafe practices. With your support, we will continue to take bad actors of the roads to keep the American people safe,” as noted by the same press release.

Secretary Duffy’s Pro-Trucker Package, launched in June, encompasses this overhaul as part of a broader effort to ease challenges for America’s truckers. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration plans further improvements, including a phase two update that will boost performance, introduce additional features, and rebrand the database, signaling FMCSA’s commitment to modernizing its systems.
