In a series of reports surfacing over the weekend, UCLA quarterback Pierce Clarkson has been arrested on felony charges. NBC Los Angeles reports the 21-year-old was taken into custody in the Florence area by the Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Division on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Following his arrest on Friday, his bail was set at $30,000, which he later posted, as per county jail records.
Clarkson, a former four-star prospect who led St. John Bosco High School to a championship, has yet to see playing time at UCLA after transferring from Louisville and later to Ole Miss this spring. The LAPD has not released details about the incident, including the alleged weapon involved, as per ABC7.
In a released statement, detailed in an article by KTLA, they declared, "We are aware of the charges against Pierce Clarkson," and continued to affirm that the case "will be evaluated by the UCLA Office of Student Conduct and any further action taken will be in accordance with that evaluation and University policy." Arrested without playing in UCLA's first two games, Clarkson's court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 3.
