A significant spotlight was on the Miners' outside hitter Torrance Lovesee in their recent outing. She surpassed the 1,000 career kills threshold, a feat achieved by only 14 other Miners in the program's history, according to UTEP Miners. The team also boasts a sixth national ranking in hitting percentage at a .324 clip, while leading Conference USA in several statistical categories.
The Miners' defense has been a key to their success with 83 total blocks this season and an impressive lead in their conference matchups. Danika Washington has been a significant presence with 34 blocks. Offensively, the team's balanced attack features four players averaging over 2.0 kills per set, demonstrating the depth and power of UTEP's roster.
UTEP's setters have also made headlines. Kalia Kohler was named CUSA Setter of the Week, her 11th career weekly award, and together with Mattie Gantt, they achieved the 2025 C-USA Co-Setter of the Week honors.
