A pickup truck crashed into an apartment complex in Vacaville yesterday, prompting evacuations after a gas and water leak were discovered. This incident occurred on the 700 block of Markham Avenue just prior to 5 p.m., as stated by the Vacaville Police Department. CBS Sacramento reported that the area had temporarily been cordoned off to allow crews to safely extract the vehicle and to secure the involved utilities.
Upon their arrival at the scene, officers were quick to ascertain the immediate hazards and started to preliminarily evacuate the residents. In an effort to hastily prevent any further dangers, Public Works and PG&E personnel were dispatched and proceeded to shut off the affected water and gas lines, according to information provided by ABC10.
A minor injury was reported, with one resident treated on-site before being released. The swift response of emergency services was instrumental in containing the situation and minimizing potential harm to the individuals involved and their neighbors.
The cause of the truck’s crash into the building is still unknown, and police have not shared any theories. The 700 block of Markham Avenue stayed closed well into the evening as crews worked to remove the truck and make the area safe, as noted by CBS Sacramento. The closure allowed repairs to be made and helped prevent any further issues during the operation.
