In Vallejo, the sharp eyes and quick actions of a local witness led to a gun arrest near a bustling intersection. The incident took place last Friday, when the Vallejo Police Department received a tip at approximately 11:29 AM about a man spotted with what appeared to be a firearm behind a building at the corner of Florida Street and Mare Island Way.
The alert came from a witness who had observed the suspect holding a gun and promptly reported the sighting to the authorities. They quickly acted to then accurately describe the suspect and his whereabouts as he moved southbound on Mare Island Way towards Capitol Street. Officers subsequently responded to the scene and located the man close to City Hall, safely detaining him without incident.
According to a social media post from the Vallejo Police Department, the officers searched and found that the individual was carrying a pellet gun, designed to resemble a shotgun closely. Further inspection revealed a loaded firearm concealed within the suspect's pants pocket, prompting his arrest for the unlawful concealment of a weapon.
The Vallejo Police Department seized and entered into evidence the firearms, both the pellet gun and the live weapon.
