The Vallejo Police Department has reported an incident involving a group caught in the act of illegal gambling at City Park. Last Tuesday, at around 7:00 PM, officers came upon nine individuals throwing dice for money amidst the everyday scene of children playing and families enjoying the park.
As law enforcement approached the gathering, one man was reportedly spotted discarding an object in the grass. All individuals were detained, and the search that ensued turned up several dice and an amount of cash suggestive of gambling activity, as per the Vallejo Police Department.
A subsequent search in the vicinity of the discarded object revealed a more troubling find: an unregistered firearm equipped with an extended magazine. The individual who attempted to rid himself of the weapon, a resident of Martinez, CA, was found to have over $3,000 and additional dice. Following a records check, he was taken into custody and booked at the Solano County Jail on various charges, including suspicion of illegal gambling and firearm possession.
