During a routine patrol in Vallejo, Fairfield Police Department officers made a notable arrest after pulling over a vehicle for expired registration. Officers O'Connell and Hernandez, monitoring the area of Grande Circle last Wednesday, conducted what began as a standard traffic stop. As reported on the Fairfield Police Department’s social media page, the situation quickly escalated when the passenger, 34-year-old Tavaris Knox, exited the vehicle and showed signs of resistance when instructed to halt by the officers.
When the situation evolved into an arrest scenario, it was discovered that there was more to be concerned about than just an expired registration. A search incident to the arrest revealed that Knox was carrying narcotics. Delving deeper into the situation, officers soon located a loaded firearm strategically hidden beneath the front passenger seat, where Knox had been seated before the confrontation.
Following these discoveries, Knox was promptly booked into the County Jail. The charges slotted against him are serious, encompassing several firearm and narcotics-related violations.
