Wake County and the City of Raleigh plan to spend $23.5 million in hospitality tax revenues on local arts, culture, and sports projects. Organizations with eligible projects must submit proposals by Nov. 6.
As per the Wake County website, the funding comes from a 6% hotel tax and a 1% restaurant and bar tax in Wake County, designated since 1991 to support facilities for arts, culture, sports, or conventions. Eligible applicants include nonprofits and municipalities located in Wake County, and projects must cover at least half of their costs from other funding sources.
A virtual information session will be held on Monday next week at 10 a.m., and it will be recorded. A committee with representatives from the county, city, and community partners will review proposals and make recommendations to the County Commission and City Council, with a vote expected in February 2026.
Previous recipients of this funding include Eagles Landing Park in Holly Springs and the Wendell Athletic Field Complex.
