"I gave him belly rubs and just saw how happy he was outside of his kennel," Stokes recounted, speaking on that first encounter that signaled an instant bond as she knew, there was a profound connection, a future filled with shared couch cuddles and sunny walks awaited them both; it was not long before Zero, rechristened Shadow, became a permanent fixture in her life, as she discerned that Zero didn't entirely suit him - a realization coming from the pure joy she observed, she felt he was much more than a name signifying nothing.
The Wake County Animal Center volunteer has been instrumental in finding homes for many animals, but with Shadow, Stokes knew she had found her match.
