
Wake Forest has received three awards for historic preservation. At the 30th Annual Anthemion Awards, hosted by Capital Area Preservation on Tuesday at the NC State University Club, three local restoration projects were recognized for their contributions to preserving Wake County’s history, according to the Town of Wake Forest news release.
The residential rehabilitation of Oak Forest at 9958 Seawell Drive was honored for the work of Barbara Massenberg, Kiki and Walker Farish, Larry Soehnlin, Matthew Davis, HM Woodworks, LLC, and O.C. Mitchell Jr., Inc.
Joni and Bryan Falvey, along with Andron Architects & Associates and Raleigh Flooring, received recognition for the commercial rehabilitation of 223-225 South White Street. The “Sites of Memory” Northeast Community Story Map was also an award recipient, created through a collaboration involving the Town of Wake Forest, Dr. Alicia McGill, the Northeast Community Coalition, and the Wake Forest Historical Museum, as per the same release.
Capital Area Preservation, established in 1972, is a nonprofit organization in Wake County that advocates for the protection of historic sites.
