The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre is sending out a call to arms, not for battle but for artistic expression, extending an invitation to those who've served in the military: veterans, reservists, and active-duty members are all welcomed to contribute their creative talents for an upcoming Veteran Art Show. The establishment at 405 S. Brooks St. seeks to offer a gallery setting for these servicemen and servicewomen, a stage for their visual narratives to unfold through art in a celebration of their unique perspectives and experiences.
With an ample 120 linear feet worth of wall space and a sizable display cabinet, the Renaissance Centre's exhibition endeavors to encompass an array of artistic expression, catering to both 2D and 3D works of art. In a statement obtained by the Town of Wake Forest's official news release, prospective participants looking for more information or wishing to apply are encouraged to do just that by visiting the centre's website, marking their calendars for the submission deadline on October 3.
The exhibit will unveil its collection of artistry for public viewing from October 21, through November 26, within the artistic confines of the Renaissance Centre Arts Annex. However, it's not just about observation; those attending will have the opportunity to not only admire but also acquire pieces direct from the creators, supporting the artistic endeavors of these veteran artists.
Moreover, a special reception slated for October 24, from 6-8 p.m. will serve as an honorable nod to the participating artists, with the event free for anyone wishing to attend, revering the confluence of military service and creative expression while the Renaissance Centre aims to ensure attendees can meet the artists in person and perhaps purchase a piece of art that resonates with them, fostering a deeper appreciation for the stories and sacrifices behind the canvases.
