Residents of Wake Forest are invited to a public meeting on Tuesday next week, to discuss plans for a new skate park and pump track. Hosted by the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department, the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Wake Forest Town Hall Ground Floor Meeting Room, accessible via the Taylor Street entrance. The session will gather input on a project that includes a skate park, pump track, basketball and fitness courts, restrooms, and a picnic shelter, as per the Town of Wake Forest website.
The town began the project last year after acquiring 8.3 acres near Devon Square and E. Carroll Joyner Park. To qualify for a PARTF grant, public input was collected through meetings and an online survey, resulting in a $500,000 grant to help fund construction. Earlier this year, New Line Skatepark Inc. was selected to design and build the facility.
The upcoming meeting will feature a brief presentation followed by an open discussion where attendees can ask questions and offer suggestions. Town officials and representatives from New Line Skatepark Inc. will be present to answer questions and collect feedback to help guide the project.
