An ordinary morning in Washington County turned urgent as a fire erupted at the Scenic Traveler RV Center. According to a Facebook post from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, at around 11:06 a.m., smoke and flames were reported coming out of a detached garage at the RV center located on Scenic Road.
Responding swiftly, the Slinger Fire Department was on the fire along with support from several other agencies; they were seen as the blaze had already consumed the structure upon their arrival. With the fire upgrading to a Mutual Aid Box Alarm System response, additional fire departments from Jackson, Hartford, St. Lawrence, and Richfield arrived on the scene for support. The combined effort of these fire departments, including Lifestar Rescue, was tasked with dousing the fire which was declared under control by 11:45 a.m, as reported by the Washington County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office.
No personal injuries were reported in the midst of the chaos, a detail that stands stark against the backdrop of potential harm. Amidst the charged air and battle against the flames, there's a small relief that no human toll was exacted on this day. A preliminary investigation, as relayed by the Washington County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office, points toward a lawn mower used recently by a landscaper as the possible ignition source for the conflagration. The equipment was stored shortly before the fire materials its presence with smoke and fate.
Regarding the financial loss suffered, the owner estimates a sobering $15,000 with the garage and its contents being a total loss. As of now, no additional information has surfaced regarding this incident, as per the Washington County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office.
