The Southbridge Police Department recently reported a substantial narcotics and firearm arrest as part of their ongoing effort to combat drug activities in their community. On September 11, detectives executed a targeted operation which resulted in the arrest of 28-year-old Samson J. Normandin on multiple firearm and narcotics charges. The arrest took place following several months of intensive investigation focusing on 16 Dean Street, an area identified as a hub for illegal drug distribution.
According to a post from the department’s social media account, the surveillance on Thursday evening led detectives to intercept Normandin shortly after he arrived in a Central Street parking lot around 9:30 PM. Upon contacting the driver, investigators discovered substances suspected to be fentanyl, crack cocaine, and cocaine, all packaged for distribution. A subsequent search of Normandin's vehicle uncovered additional cocaine, a firearm, numerous live rounds of ammunition, and an amount of suspected oxycodone hydrochloride.
Normandin, who hails from Waterford, CT, faces a slew of charges including trafficking in cocaine and fentanyl, possession of a Class B substance (Oxycodone), and various firearm-related offences. Following his arrest, he was held on a $25,000 cash bail and awaited arraignment in Dudley District Court the next day. The Southbridge Police Department emphasized that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Detailing the operation’s background, the department mentioned that more than 11 individuals had been arrested since January 2025 in association with drug activity around the contentious Dean Street location. Indeed, in May another search on the same street led to the confiscation of crack cocaine and ammunition. The ongoing crackdown is part of the department’s strategy to hold individuals accountable for the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics. Commendations were given to detectives and officers for their professionalism and diligence in protecting public safety, demonstrating a sustained commitment to addressing these community issues.
