A 32-year-old man from Wayne County won $2 million on a 100X instant game lottery ticket, which he bought on a whim. While scratching off the ticket, he was surprised to see the top prize.
"I was scratching off one of the tickets and when I saw I matched number 11 with ‘$2MIL’ underneath, I kept asking myself: ‘What does this mean?’ because I didn’t believe I really won $2 million at first," said the Michigan Lottery winner, as reported by WZZM13. The ticket was bought at Fleck’s Fresh Mart in Canton. After verification, he claimed his prize at the Michigan Lottery headquarters and chose a lump-sum payment of about $1.3 million. He plans to put the money into savings.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli congratulated the winner, saying, “The decision to purchase a few Lottery tickets on a whim changed this lucky player’s life forever!” The anonymous Wayne County man won a large prize after spending $20 on the 100X game, which has paid over $68 million in winnings since January, according to MI Lottery Connect. Instant games have paid nearly $1.8 billion in 2024, and more than $34 million in prizes remain. Tickets are available at retailers throughout the state.
