Heads up, drivers planning to navigate the Snoqualmie and North Bend region this weekend: the westbound Interstate 90 off-ramp to State Route 18/Snoqualmie Parkway will be off-limits. Scheduled closures are set to begin at 9 PM Friday, September 19, and remain in effect until 5 AM. Monday, September 22, according to an announcement by North Bend city officials. The shutdown will permit the installation of guardrails and curbing essentials for traveler safety.
During this time, a detour will reroute westbound I-90 drivers, looping them around at Preston/Fall City (Exit 22) to connect back to SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway via the eastbound I-90 off-ramp. This detour may add unexpected twists to travel plans as commuters seek alternative routes.
Preceding the off-ramp closure, additional traffic disruptions will impact those traveling eastbound on I-90, beginning from 8 PM Thursday, September 18, until 5 AM Friday, September 19. Eastbound I-90 will be constricted to a single lane near the I-90/SR 18 interchange to facilitate the installation of traffic counting loops in the pavement. Expect longer commute times as traffic consolidates into the remaining open lane.
Those who must pass through the affected zones during these periods are advised to brace for delays. The weather determines the schedule for these infrastructural undertakings, with the work being pushed back if rain decides to play spoilsport and dampen proceedings.
