A woman was critically injured at the Dorchester House in Adams Morgan last night after her arm became trapped in a freight elevator door. The D.C. Fire and EMS Department responded shortly before 8 p.m., and the woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to DC News Now.
Following the incident at the apartment building on 16th Street NW, the D.C. Department of Buildings began an investigation. FOX 5 reported that an inspector issued an order temporarily halting the elevator’s operation while the cause of the failure is reviewed. The extent of the woman’s injuries was not immediately clear.
Residents said they often saw the injured woman, who uses a wheelchair and is accompanied by a service dog. As the investigation into the elevator malfunction continues, details remain limited. It has reached out to the Department of Buildings for further comment but has not yet received a response, abc7 News reported.
