
Chaos pierced the routine of a school day when a juvenile aimed a BB gun at a moving school bus in Zephyrhills, the local police reported. The bus, which carried students from West Zephyrhills Elementary, had its rear window shattered on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in minor injuries to one of the students aboard due to the broken glass. The Zephyrhills Police Department were quick on the scene after the incident was reported at around 4:36 p.m. near Meadowood Loop and Alston Avenue.
According to a social media post by the Zephyrhills Police Department, the suspect is identified as a student from West Zephyrhills Elementary who was not authorized to be on the bus due to an recent suspension. The juvenile admitted to the act, which led to the recovery and confiscation of the BB gun by authorities.
Following the arrest, the young perpetrator was charged with multiple offenses, including shooting into a vehicle, criminal mischief, and battery. He is now under the custody of the Pasco County Juvenile Assessment Center, while the Department of Children and Families (DCF) has been engaged to oversee his welfare and the circumstances leading to the incident. The Zephyrhills Police Department assures that their investigation into this troubling event is continuing.
