A 12-year-old girl was hit by a school bus while riding her bike on Monday around 3:30 p.m. near West Tropical Parkway and North Jones Boulevard in northwest Las Vegas. The crash also involved an SUV. The girl was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to 8NewsNow.
Las Vegas police are investigating a bus accident involving a 75-year-old driver and 55 students, all of whom were unharmed. This is the third collision involving a juvenile in the area in three weeks. Impairment was not suspected. "I can’t even put into words. It’s sad. It’s heartbreaking. It’s upsetting," said Bethany Limov, a parent and member of Walking Safely LV, a group focused on pedestrian safety, as reported by FOX5 Vegas. The group was formed after a fatal accident outside Arbor View High School in May.
"Administrators from Lied STEM Academy, along with District leadership, are providing support to students and families," the District said, as per FOX5 Vegas. Clark County School Police are helping with the investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Authorities have reminded drivers to be careful near schools.
