A family conflict in North Harris County has escalated into violence, leaving a 13-year-old girl hospitalized after being stabbed by her younger brother. The incident occurred at the Park at North Vista Apartments on North Vista Drive at Interstate 45, as confirmed by Harris County Constable Precinct 4. Authorities responded to an emergency call from the siblings' grandmother following a fight, which culminated in the girl sustaining a stab wound.
Initial reports indicated that the teenager had received multiple stab wounds, but KHOU clarified at the scene that she was stabbed once. While she is expected to recover, the 12-year-old brother fled the scene before deputies arrived, remains missing, and caused by utilizing drones, the authorities are searching for him.
The argument leading to the incident is believed to have been part of an ongoing feud between the siblings, the exact nature of which remains uncertain. After the stabbing, emergency medical services provided treatment to the girl on site before her transportation to a hospital, where she was later reported to be stable.
A neighboring resident, identified as Jennifer, provided immediate support to the victim. She recounted to Click2Houston her interaction with the girl, saying, "I mean, you know, in a mother’s comfort and a time of need like that, I’m looking at it being my child laying there, you know what I mean? So you just kind of take over. Even it’s not my child, it’s still a child." Jennifer recalled the girl as being calm yet understandably scared and tearful, aware of the gravity of her situation.
The Constable's Office has established a heavy police presence in the area and is continuing its investigation. After the incident, they have been urging the public to avoid the area to maintain the integrity of the crime scene and the ongoing search efforts. A guardian was also reportedly present in the home at the time of the stabbing, but details regarding their involvement or response have not been disclosed.
