Seventeen individuals have been arrested in connection with a series of train burglaries in Southern California, as reported by the KTLA. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office found more than $375,000 in stolen goods and over $61,000 in cash during raids at three locations.
Last week, executed search warrants in Hesperia and Victorville led investigators to two residences and a storage unit where the recovered stolen items from BNSF trains. In the residence on Maple Avenue in Hesperia, $54,442.79 worth of stolen merchandise and about $19,200 in cash were found, while the criminal suspects were directing the operation, eleven in total were taken into custody.
The Sheriff’s Department told KTLA that "Eleven suspects were arrested and subsequently booked on felony charges for possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime." In a subsequent raid on Anacapa Road in Victorville, six more suspects were arrested with an approximate $42,000 in cash and additional goods valued at $133,867 being confiscated along with eight illegal firearms.
The successful apprehension of the suspects, all transported to the High Desert Detention Center, was not an event in isolation. The third location, a storage unit on Palmdale Road in Victorville, yielded an estimated $188,309 in merchandise. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Instagram post clarified that all confiscated items were associated with the train burglaries.
