The incident adds to concerns over continued gun violence in the city, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers later stopped a suspect in the 4500 block of Benning Road Northeast and recovered a loaded gun during a search warrant, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department. The suspect, identified as 61-year-old Matthew Lee Murphy of Southeast, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
