A 67-year-old man drowned after falling into the waters near Hart-Miller Island, Maryland, while crabbing from a boat. According to the Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP), officers received an emergency call at approximately 11:57 a.m. yesterday, as detailed by WMAR2 News. The man was reported to have fallen overboard and subsequently vanished beneath the surface, prompting an extensive search effort.
Following the report, a response team comprising the NRP, the U.S. Coast Guard, Baltimore County Police Department, and local fire departments launched a rescue operation using both aviation and dive resources. The effort continued for several hours. However, in a disheartening update, Fox Baltimore reported that the man was located deceased by the search teams at 6:02 p.m. the same day.
The Maryland Natural Resources Police have not released the identity of the man as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing. Boaters in the area were initially asked by police to steer clear of the Hart-Miller Island area while the search was in progress, to facilitate the uninterrupted work of the rescue and recovery personnel.
