
An 86-year-old male cyclist sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Egger Highlands. The incident occurred yesterday at approximately 3:49 PM at the Main Street and Alamitos Avenue intersection, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).
The elderly man was riding his bicycle northbound on Alamitos Avenue when he crossed Main Street's westbound lanes. In the westbound number two lane at 2250 Main Street, he collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 39-year-old male. The SDPD Watch Commander, Officer J. Perales, disclosed the details of the collision in the department's log.
As a result of the collision, the cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries, including a fractured scapula, ankle, foot, and a blood clot around the brain. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment. The SDPD's Traffic Division has investigated the accident's circumstances.
The authorities are urging anyone with information about the accident to come forward. The SDPD has extended a call to the public, requesting that witnesses or individuals with pertinent details contact the Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
