Early this morning, an alleged theft at a Sacramento-area storage facility took a dangerous turn when the suspect was struck by a vehicle during his escape. The incident, as reported by both CBS Sacramento and FOX40, occurred near the intersection of Roseville Road and Watt Avenue at the CubeSmart Storage facility.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, the suspect, a 41-year-old man, was attempting to hurriedly leave the scene on foot when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle. This incident took place shortly after the suspect allegedly managed to break into a locker at the storage location before 4 a.m. Details on what might have been taken were not immediately clear, but the aftermath was certainly severe.
The man is said to have sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision and is expected to remain in the hospital for several weeks, as authorities informed CBS Sacramento. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has yet to release further information about the identity of the man or the specifics of the items he allegedly intended to steal.
