A man in Antelope was arrested yesterday after barricading himself in his home and reportedly threatening to kill his family and their dog, Sacramento County deputies said. The incident began around 7:30 p.m. last Saturday on the 5100 block of Antler Run Place when deputies responded to a call regarding the man, who was said to be armed and had locked himself inside the residence, as reported by FOX40.
The Sheriff's Office informed, several homes in the neighborhood were evacuated as a precaution due to the standoff. Despite the volatile situation, the Sheriff's Office confirmed that the suspect's wife, other family members, and the dog were all safe outside the home. Nevertheless, the suspect, barricaded inside the home, had access to a firearm and refused to surrender to authorities, refused to come out, complicating law enforcement efforts to resolve the standoff peacefully.
The situation was resolved when the man was discovered around 1 a.m., hiding in a neighbor's backyard, leading to his arrest, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office stated. The details of the arrest were provided, revealing that the suspect was arrested following the coordinated efforts of deputies to contain the scene overnight.
