As Breast Cancer Awareness Month ushers in its annual cycle of pink ribbons and advocacy, Anythink Library in Commerce City is stepping up to educate residents on this critical health issue. On Thursday, October 17, the Community Well-Being Division is hosting a free community presentation at the library to discuss breast cancer education, prevention, and awareness, targeting a bilingual audience with resources in both English and Spanish.
In an effort to expand its reach and truly resonate within the community, the event is slated to feature a representative from Clinica Tepeyac, renowned for fighting to make healthcare accessible for all. Scheduled to run from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., the session promises to unambiguously communicate the significance of early detection, outline key signs and symptoms to be vigilant of, and introduce support systems for individuals and their loved ones. "This session will cover the importance of early detection, signs and symptoms to watch for, and resources available to support individuals and families," according to the City of Commerce City.
Emphasizing inclusion, translation services will make the presentation accessible to a wider audience, ensuring that language barriers do not preclude anyone from gaining potentially life-saving knowledge. Attendees will also be allowed to ask questions in an environment designed to be as supportive as it is welcoming, fostering a dialogue around a topic that all too often can become shrouded in silence or fear.
