An armored truck guard was ambushed and pepper-sprayed during a brazen daylight ATM robbery in DeSoto. The incident, which took place today around 11:30 a.m. near the 200 block of North Hampton Road, involved two suspects directly engaging the guard who was servicing the ATM, and after incapacitating the guard with pepper spray, they seized an undisclosed sum of money, as reported by the DeSoto Police Department's social media post.
Per the police report, after committing the robbery, the suspects were seen fleeing northbound in a white sedan, operated by a third accomplice acting as the getaway driver. As the investigation moves forward, detectives from both the DeSoto Police and the FBI are actively examining the crime scene and collecting pertinent evidence, which could be critical in tracking down the suspects. In what is becoming an all-too-common occurrence in broad daylight crimes, the attack not only underscores the audacity of criminals but also reflects the increasingly violent methods employed.
