Early Monday morning saw a string of burglaries in Chicago's North and Northwest sides, wherein ATMs were the primary targets. According to ABC7 Chicago, the first incident took place at around 2:58 a.m. on the 1400 block of West Devon Avenue in Rogers Park, where suspects left a retail store window shattered and an ATM missing. A black SUV was spotted fleeing the scene with five individuals inside.

Subsequently, less than an hour later, a similar situation unfolded in Logan Square at approximately 3:45 a.m., at a restaurant located in the 2200 block of North California Avenue, where police discovered another front window broken and an ATM taken, reports FOX 32 Chicago. In this instance, three suspects were seen escaping in a black SUV, carrying with them the stolen ATM, and much like the earlier burglary, no one is in custody, and detectives from Area Three and Area Five were handed the investigations.

The Chicago Police Department has not confirmed whether these two events are interconnected. While both burglaries featured the brazen theft of ATMs and the criminals' escape using a black SUV, the evidence to link the crimes is not yet being disclosed by the authorities.
