Aurora residents have until October 20 to offer their final suggestions for the city's first comprehensive transportation blueprint, Connecting Aurora. The project aims to revamp local travel, catering to all modes of transportation, including walking, cycling, driving, and public transit. With city council deliberations on the horizon, the input collected will be a crucial element in shaping Aurora’s transportation future.
According to the City of Aurora, the input phase includes an interactive online map, a compiled list of transportation projects, and proposed policies available at EngageAurora.org/ConnectingAurora. A virtual town hall on October 8 and in-person office hours on October 9 at the Aurora Municipal Center offer residents further opportunities to engage with the plan's details.
In-depth examination of the draft final plan will be available from January 8 to 29, both online and in hardcopy, at several public locations such as libraries and active adult centers. This critical period precedes the City Council's review process set to begin in March, where the collective voice of Aurora's community will be reflected in the final measures that the council will consider.
The Connecting Aurora initiative is a response to the city’s strategic outcome for promoting a healthy community, and it's designed to improve safety and ease of transportation for all Aurora residents.
