Avondale is setting the stage for a cleaner, safer environment with the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste and More Event. Scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, the city joins forces with multiple departments, including the Police Department, City Clerk’s Office, and Public Works Department, with support from the Attorney General’s Office, offering a vital service to local residents from 8 a.m. to noon.
As reported by the city's official announcement, the affair is set to unfold at the Avondale Civic Center Complex located at 11465 Civic Center Drive. Participants can enter through Coldwater Springs Blvd and will remain in their vehicles while navigating through three drop-off points dedicated to varied types of waste. It's essential for everything meant for disposal to be tucked away in the trunk or the truck bed upon arrival.
The event is structured to tackle the collection of household hazardous waste, accepting a plethora of items detailed on the city's Public Works website. In addition, citizens can shred up to five boxes of sensitive documents, providing peace of mind and further security against identity theft. However, ensure documents are free of binders and binder clips to comply with event guidelines.
Controlled substances, such as unused prescription medication,s also have a drop-off station, offering an "anonymous" means of disposal, except for items such as liquid medications, syringes, and any illegal substances.
Avondale residents looking to participate must show proof of residency, like a utility bill or ID, upon attending. For further inquiries or detailed information about the event, folks are encouraged to reach out to the Avondale City Clerk’s Office by calling (623) 333-1000 or sending an email to [email protected].
