With a development agreement in the works between the city and Web Avondale Investments, LLC, an entity within the Whitten Development portfolio, the upcoming six-story, 180-room hotel is poised to bring a full-service experience complete with a rooftop bar affording sweeping panoramas of the Estrella Mountains.
“We are thrilled to welcome Embassy Suites to Avondale,” Avondale Mayor Mike Pineda exclaimed. The addition, which incorporates over 10,000 square feet dedicated to meetings and conferences, is part of Avondale’s strategy to attract larger events and opportunities. A recent city council meeting on Oct. 21 set the stage for a November discussion on a development agreement.
The ambitions for this new hospitality endeavor include enhancing Avondale's appeal as a vibrant destination for both leisure and business. Whitten Development's CEO Tim Whitten voiced the company's enthusiasm, saying, “We are looking forward to coming to Avondale and being a part of this great community.” The company’s expertise in developing and managing hotel properties under leading brands like Hilton and Marriott is expected to bring a significant impact to the local economy in terms of job creation and commercial revenue.
Cementing its pivotal role in the city’s long-term focus on bolstering tourism and supporting local enterprises, the hotel stands as a critical component of the thriving entertainment district. Jennifer Stein, Avondale’s Director of Economic Development, noted, “Momentum is building at The BLVD. This Embassy Suites and the broader development reinforce Avondale’s position as The Center of it All for hospitality, entertainment, and business.”
Since its official branding in 2018, The BLVD has seen robust growth with new hotels, multifamily housing developments, and over 23 retail and restaurant businesses adding to its vibrancy. The American Sports Centers – Avondale remains a draw within the Park Avenue District, pulling in an annual traffic of more than half a million visits.
