For the second day in a row, New York City police responded to a case involving an abandoned infant. This incident occurred at a Dunkin' Donuts in the Bronx, where a child was found unattended, according to ABC 7 New York. Authorities discovered a 3- to 4-month-old baby boy in a stroller at around 8 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. The child was described as conscious and alert. He was taken to the 43rd precinct in stable condition and was later reunited with his mother.
The incident at Dunkin' Donuts follows a related event from the previous day, when a newborn was left at a subway station. The baby, with its umbilical cord still attached, was discovered on the 34th Street-Penn Station platform. Police released a video of a woman wanted for questioning in connection with the subway abandonment, as per the New York Post. The newborn was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition by responding officers.
The mother of the child left at Dunkin' Donuts arrived approximately 20 minutes after authorities were called, to discover that her baby had already been taken to the precinct. It was reported by the New York Post that by noon, no charges were filed against her as it was not clear whether the abandonment was intentional or accidental. The mother, who was also with another child believed to be 6 or 7 years old, had been outside the Dunkin' dealing with an issue with the older child when the younger was inadvertently left behind.
