Baltimore County Police have taken a registered sex offender into custody in an ongoing juvenile sex trafficking probe. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Miracle Elendu from Baltimore, is facing charges of soliciting, recruiting, raping, and trafficking several female juveniles throughout the area. According to Fox Baltimore, the investigation kicked off in September and involves collaboration between the local police department's Crimes Against Children Unit and the FBI Baltimore Field Office's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.
Information sourced from WMAR-2 News indicates that there may be more victims yet to come forward, considering Elendu's method of contacting his victims. Currently incarcerated at the Baltimore County Detention Center, Elendu's alleged actions have prompted a call from authorities seeking additional details from the public.
The seriousness of the charges reflects the larger issue of sex trafficking gripping not only Baltimore County but regions across the nation where the vulnerable often become targets. Both the police and FBI units associated with child welfare are working rigorously to dismantle operations that exploit juveniles.
The police are urging anyone with potentially relevant information to contact their Crimes Against Children Unit at 410-887-7720.
